#GBSB Series 3

Make it, own it, love it, by Matt Chapple | Book Review

Make it, own it, love it

I’ve been travelling a lot with work lately, to some wonderful places, like Berlin and Stockholm, so not complaining. And when I got home from Stockholm last week, the postman brought me a present: my friend and fellow Sewing Bee (Season 3) Matt Chapple is now a published author!! How amazing is that?!! And now I get to tell you all about this wonderful book, called Make it, own it, love it (a copy of which was sent to me for free to read and review, all opinions my own). Check out Matt’s own blog post about this as well.

An incredibly sad post

Dear sewing friends, I have just received some very heartbreaking news… My fellow Great British Sewing Bee Season 3 contestant and friend, the wonderfully talented, full of life, stylish and such an amazing lady, Lorna Monje, is no more. I am incredibly shocked and saddened and I feel the sewing community is now poorer for having lost such an amazing seamstress. We are a very close group, the GBSB 3 alumni, and it was so great seeing Lorna whenever she was available from her travels. Last night we were all united in celebrating Lorna and remembering her on and off the programme.

Neela Sari top – Fashion with Fabrics shell top hack

GBSB book Shell top hack

Hi guys, hope you’re ready for more Fashion with Fabrics (GBSB 3 book) projects! My love for this fab book is no secret, and here is another reason: the hacks! for each project there are suggested hacks (or modifications), but I managed to come up with another one. This is inspired by my fellow Bee Neela (who also blogs at Sew Fusion) and also the fabric was a very kind gift from the same lovely friend Nee. That is why I’ve named this one in her honour!

Colourful drapey dress (from Fashion with Fabric GBSB 3 book)

Drapey Dress Header2

March was so productive I’m struggling to keep up photographing and blogging all the garments I’ve made. So here I am in April already posting about the first project I completed in March, the drapey dress from the now famous Fashion with Fabric GBSB book, by the wonderful CL Hardie. When I first saw the book being reviewed all over the blogsphere, this was the one pattern I got the most excited about. See here CL’s own version and a fab stripy one from Karen at Did You Make That? This dress is so unusual and versatile, plus a very interesting and challenging build, I couldn’t wait for my copy of the book to arrive! (Disclaimer: I used my complementary copy from Quadrille Publishing, as a Sewing Bee contestant on Series 3).

Wardrobe Architect 2015 Challenge – February Round-up and other bits

The good news is that it’s March and we’re closer to Spring and there is a bit more sun to go round and cheer us up. The bad news is that February is gone already and I can hardly imagine what I’ve done with it… So I had to sit down and have a think, and I might as well write it down too… (more…)
