How I spent my summer sewcation on unselfish sewing

Tulip Jersey Dress

I’m sure you guys have learned by now that I am probably the most selfish sewist ever! I HATE sewing for other people! I don’t like how hard it is to get hold of them for fitting, how they always want things I quite dislike (ditzy florals, beah!) and how in the end, I have no new item to add to my wardrobe. Selfish, I told you! Plus half of them are blinkin’ ungrateful! With one exception: my sister. We are virtually the same size, so I don’t really need her for fitting, I can just take my measures. She is always suitably impressed and grateful. And she wears what I make for her. Even so, I still procrastinate like the dickens when she asks me to make her something.

V9075 culottes jumpsuit in rust knit

V9075

Guys, beware! The jumpsuit season chez Sewrendipity has begun! Again! Yes, that’s a few good months to go until #JumpIntoJune hopefully kicks off again. But as I was saying in my previous post, sometimes a fabric + a pattern just equal love, and you have to go for it! And I do love my jumpsuits, and as a matter of fact, my culottes too!

My life is full of trousers in various stages of completion at the moment. I have taken a break from jeans making with a bit of culottes making, and a break from that with a top, which I thought will be a quick make. But since we’re talking Burda Style here, of course it was anything but. However, still a nice little top to show for it, plus a really cool photo shoot on top of the Shard to delight you with.

A perfect spot – Raglan Tunic Dress

Post 77

Hello sewosphere, guess who is back? Back from holidays, that is, and with a horrendous case of the blues… Lisbon was lovely, with blue skies and sangria in the sun, and coming back into the middle of Storm Katie did nothing to ease me back into everyday life…

In any case, on the sewing front, I can report some great bargain fabric purchases in Lisbon, and slowly, very slowly getting my sewjo back. I have sewn nothing in March, which is actually a bit worrying for me. In part, it was due to a lot of travelling for work and our holidays in Portugal, but I also acquired two UFOs, which is very unusual for me. I really need a quick and dirty project to get me out of the slump…

But in the meantime, I do have something to show you, a dress I absolutely love and have already worn a dozen times, but somehow didn’t get a chance to photograph yet. It was like a curse, every time I wanted to do it, something came up: bad weather, hangovers and just not being home in the daylight. I even took it with me to Portugal, but it rained on the day I had planned for pics. GRRR! So I just took some boring pics in my living room today, taking advantage of a break in the clouds and rain for some reasonable daylight.

So here goes, my perfect spotted raglan tunic dress…

Rescued from the scrap pile – Panelled bodycon dress

Burda 02/2012#117A

Spring is here, hurray, hurray! I’m sat in the courtyard of a wonderful decrepit historic mansion in Bucharest, now a cool bar, looking at hip young things rummaging through endless rails in a now famous yard sale. A friend of mine has been organising it since two years now. Let me tell you, retail fast is so hard to maintain when there are lovely bargains to be had. More about this in a future post.

But I digress…

What I actually wanted to tell you about in this post is another March make that I only got a chance to photograph last week. And tough spring is here, I was not brave enough to suffer for my art and actually take pictures outside. So indoor living room studio it is…
