DIY GLITTER BOXY CROP TOP | NAMED PATTERNS INARI

Just to manage your expectations, this post is really not about sewing. Or only just a bit about sewing. I mean, it does feature something I’ve sewn, but that’s a rerun, so not that much to talk about. This is a very self-indulgent and a bit of a vain post, so you might want to switch off now…

DIY T-SHIRT DRESS | NAMED PATTERNS INARI

I am certainly having a good time writing this post on a train to Leeds, on my way to a fantastic sewing for charity event that’s happening tomorrow and Tuesday. Read more on Making for Charity’s Facebook page if you’re curious and if you’re local, come and say hello!! In the meantime, please allow me to entertain you with a new completed sewing project, and ooh boy, there haven’t been that many of those lately…  I did get to do a bit more sewing in April, so a few new things for me to wear for Me Made May, which…

DIY RAGLAN TUNIC DRESS | BURDA 10-2014 #127A

Hello sewosphere, guess who is back? Back from holidays, that is, and with a horrendous case of the blues… Lisbon was lovely, with blue skies and sangria in the sun, and coming back into the middle of Storm Katie did nothing to ease me back into everyday life… In any case, on the sewing front, I can report some great bargain fabric purchases in Lisbon, and slowly, very slowly getting my sewjo back. I have sewn nothing in March, which is actually a bit worrying for me. In part, it was due to a lot of travelling for work and…

DIY SCUBA SHEATH DRESS | VOGUE 9075 + NEW LOOK 6107

Remember I keep talking about this teal scuba fabric? I made culottes out of it here and then I was telling you about how I decided to fix them and they ended up in pieces here? Well, this is the same fabric that rose like a Phoenix from the scrap basket to become a pretty wearable dress, even if I do say so myself…

DIY BIKER JACKET | WEAR LEMONADE MONA

Sewosphere, this week I actually put my money where my mouth went… I sewed my first French Indie sewing pattern, AND I made my first jacket. So, without further ado…. Meeeet Mona!

DIY STRETCH SKINNY JEANS | CLOSET CASE PATTERNS GINGER JEANS

Heck yeah, I’m a jeans maker! Or a jeans-like trousers maker, as the case may be :). I’ve joined the Ginger party, a bit late, buy hey, better late than never, for Jeans in January jamboree, as organised by Chris over at Said & Done. So, welcome to my Gingerland adventures, down the rabbit hole we go…

Queue-jumping sparkly jumpsuit

Hello sewosphere, feeling Christmasy? I have been accused several times this week of being the Grinch – my husband even suggested I use some of the green paint from my Wicked Halloween costume to fit the part better :). So this is definitely not going to be in the spirit, although there is a bit of sparkle to be had. This year I made two jumpsuits (a halter neck here and a culottes suit here), plus two playsuits (a beach-y one here and a silky one here). I clearly took that Jumping into June challenge serious. Btw, Chris is hosting a Jeans January…

DIY LINEN DRESS WITH POCKETS | TILLY & THE BUTTONS BETTINE

As I was telling you about a few posts ago, on the 28th November, the lovely Charlotte and Sophie at Badger & Earl, a sewing cafe in Chiswick (West London), invited Elisalex from By Hand London, Rachel of House of Pinheiro, Jane from Handmade Jane and your truly to come for a fun day of social sewing in their shop. The brief was to choose a pattern they stock and fabric and make it there and then.

DIY SCUBA SHORTS | MCCALLS 6083

I must confess, I am still clearly in the scuba-obsessed phase, so here we have a new creation using this amazing fabric. Although totally weather inappropriate, and believe me, I absolutely felt that during the photo shoot earlier today, I love them!

FRENCH SEWING BLOGS | MY TOP PICKS

I discovered many French sewing blogs via Instagram  – you know how that goes, you follow one, they suggest loads others. I am lucky that I can speak French, so I had no trouble following the words and well as the pics, but believe me, a picture speaks 1000 words and many of them are worth checking out just to browse the stunning images.
