DIY RIBBED CARDIGAN | Burda Style 10/2014 #102

Guys, it’s official, Autumn is here, so bring one the cosy sewing! Which is exactly what I did last week, with a nice wardrobe staple that’s definitely missing from mine. I think I’m going through a navy phase, as everything I’m sewing lately is in shades and variations of this colour. On the plus side, I am keeping to my colour palette, which I will tell you more about in a future post, which has navy as a main component. On the down side, navy is so difficult to photograph, so I hope these pictures will make sense at all.

Sleeveless blouse with Chelsea collar | Seamwork Addison

Hey sewing guys and gals, looks like I skipped a week, but back with sewing goodies! I’ve been doing almost nothing other than sewing this weekend, so I will have plenty to entertain you in the following weeks. Let’s get the show started with a little Addison top from Seamwork Mag. I have been lusting over some of their patterns for a while, but it was Addison that made me take the plunge and actually subscribe (that and the offer they had for Seamwork Radio podcast listeners). If you’re not familiar with it, Seamwork is an online magazine from the…

DIY PINK CULOTTES | VOGUE V9032

After a bit of a leave of absence to accommodate a little camping holiday in Devon, I finally have the pink culottes ready and photographed for you. Because everybody needs a pair of hot pink gaucho trousers in their wardrobe, am I right?

Asymmetrical poplin summer dress | Vogue 9186

I saw this pattern a while back, but it absolutely skyrocketed to the top of my sewing list thanks to Lucy at Sew Essential and her offer to do a collaboration. I have known Sew Essential for a long time now. I often ordered haberdashery and sewing tools from them in the past, as well as patterns, but never actually considered buying fabric. So for this post, I got to browse the website for suitable fabric for a project to make this summer. BTW, if you haven’t seen the new site, I warmly recommend having a look. They had a revamp…

Raw Silk Navy Bolero | New Look 6080

July has been heavy on the sewing but unfortunately, a tad light on the finished garments front. That is because I was working on a more complicated unselfish sewing project, which was full of firsts for me, so I had quite a big learning curve to deal with, plus a very active social life, which didn’t help very much either. But all ended well, so I can go back to selfish sewing and some show & tell for you soon!

DIY JERSEY AND LACE TOP | BURDA 02-2009 #114

My life is full of trousers in various stages of completion at the moment. I have taken a break from jeans making with a bit of culottes making, and a break from that with a top, which I thought will be a quick make. But since we’re talking Burda Style here, of course, it was anything but. However, still a nice little top to show for it, plus a really cool photo shoot on top of the Shard to delight you with.

DIY GLITTER BOXY CROP TOP | NAMED PATTERNS INARI

Just to manage your expectations, this post is really not about sewing. Or only just a bit about sewing. I mean, it does feature something I’ve sewn, but that’s a rerun, so not that much to talk about. This is a very self-indulgent and a bit of a vain post, so you might want to switch off now…

DIY WOOL + PLEATHER BOXY CROP TOP | NAMED PATTERNS INARI

I’m stupidly busy at work at the moment, so not a lot of sewing time, but I did manage to squeeze a few more projects to sew & show you before the end of April. As I anticipated in the previous post, I did end up making more Inaris, this time the top version, with a few alterations. It was meant to be a quick project, but it took me a bit longer than I thought. On the plus side, I do love the outcome and already wore it 4 times since I finished it last Saturday. So here she…

DIY T-SHIRT DRESS | NAMED PATTERNS INARI

I am certainly having a good time writing this post on a train to Leeds, on my way to a fantastic sewing for charity event that’s happening tomorrow and Tuesday. Read more on Making for Charity’s Facebook page if you’re curious and if you’re local, come and say hello!! In the meantime, please allow me to entertain you with a new completed sewing project, and ooh boy, there haven’t been that many of those lately…  I did get to do a bit more sewing in April, so a few new things for me to wear for Me Made May, which…

DIY RAGLAN TUNIC DRESS | BURDA 10-2014 #127A

Hello sewosphere, guess who is back? Back from holidays, that is, and with a horrendous case of the blues… Lisbon was lovely, with blue skies and sangria in the sun, and coming back into the middle of Storm Katie did nothing to ease me back into everyday life… In any case, on the sewing front, I can report some great bargain fabric purchases in Lisbon, and slowly, very slowly getting my sewjo back. I have sewn nothing in March, which is actually a bit worrying for me. In part, it was due to a lot of travelling for work and…
